Proper physical therapy can minimize the side effects of drug use. Patients can get it at a hospital that has a physical therapy clinic, must be with the referral of doctors who know the health condition of the patient.

There are so many forms of treatment that can be administered to patients, including children. One of them is physical therapy.

Its role is to improve the motor movement function due to muscle disturbance and body frame after bone fracture, or post-operative bone surgery.

Physical therapy is also given to people with diseases related to the nerves, such as diseases that cause incorrect road patterns and weak muscles, sufferers who have impaired the peripheral nerves, inflammation of the brain, obstruction of the channel in the brain, and Other.

According to Dr. Peni Kusumastuti, Sp.RM., from international Hospital Bintaro, Tangerang, Banten,  "All diseases will interfere with the motor movement of children."

At the physical Therapy Clinic, the therapist will teach the patient how to do the correct body movements.

Well, those movements that should be done alone by the patient, such as sitting, standing, street, running, and so on.

"Physical therapy is a service provided to patients to develop, maintain, and restore, the ability and function of the movement to the fullest throughout his life," said Peni.

Regarding frequency, there is no benchmark the number of times a child should undergo physical therapy. "Depending on the condition. When it comes in severe or chronic conditions, it certainly requires longer therapy. Another thing is that parents have been anticipatory early.  "

What is not less important, before advocating physical therapy, doctors or therapists should know the history of birth and its clinical records.

Therapists should work closely with related physicians.

When it is known the background of the disease, then the appropriate physical therapy is chosen.

Types of Physical Therapy

1. Exercise Physical Therapy

This therapy is intended to restore the function while giving reinforcement and maintenance of motion to be able to return to normal or at least close to normal conditions.

To the child, there will be exercises to hold or move their hands and feet.

Once able, it will proceed with mobilization exercises, starting with standing, stepping, walking, running small, and so on.

In the case of a broken leg, for example, physical therapy will be gradually performed, when the child should be slightly looked down until it can be full-retracing.

The exercises are aimed at maintaining the strength of the muscles and their functional ability by maintaining the joints so as not to be stiff.

This is to be done because the broken legs that are fitted with casts will generally undergo muscle reduction, resulting in reduced strength.

Through the therapy performed while playing will look at which part has decreased function.

2. Heating Physical Therapy

As the name suggests, this therapy utilizes the power of heat that is usually used in abnormalities of the skin, muscles, or other inner tissues of the body.

Its use is of course adjusted to the complaint level.
If you only reach the skin, the harvesting is only for the skin using Infra Red Radiation (IRR).

If the disturbance occurs in the muscles, use micro diathermy or Micro Diatermi.

Meanwhile, if the disturbance appears in the innermost part of the body frame, then the used short wave diathermy.

In essence, the type of therapy will be adjusted to the diagnosis.

Warming therapy is usually administered concurrently with other types of therapy.
As in inhaled therapy for children with mucus problems in the airway; In muscle and joint pains.

When combined with other forms of treatment is certainly more beneficial because the dose of the drug should be drunk so the child is smaller to minimize the negative effects.

3. Electrical Stimulations Physical Therapy

Therapy that uses a small power flow is suitable for children who suffer from muscular weakness due to fractures or nerve damage to muscles.

How to use it, by pasting the electrical flow in the muscles to overcome the pain.

This therapy aims to retain lean muscle mass and indirectly stimulate nerve regeneration.

In children suffering from respiratory distress, this therapy can also be used for treatment.

The effect, blood circulation in the chest cavity and respiratory tract becomes smoother, so it can help relax and help remove the mucus from the respiratory tract, so it will accelerate the healing process.

4. Cold Physical Therapy

Cold therapy is usually given when children's injuries are still acutely so that the inflammation process does not become chronic.

This therapy is generally only for muscles, usually caused by falling and bruising.

Well, this cold therapy is also useful to reduce swelling.

That is why, when a child falls and his body part is a lump, the parents often compress it in cold water.

But cold therapy should be with strict supervision because if the phase of the stomach has passed, but still be given therapy, can precisely damage the tissue.

5. Chest Physical Therapy

The child with a cough-cold complaint usually gets a chest physiotherapy that is beneficial to clean the respiratory tract and repair air exchange.

Included in this physical therapy includes inhalation/nebulizer, clapping, vibration and postural drainage.

Inhalation is to incorporate medications into the respiratory tract through an inhalation.

So, the drug particles are broken down first in a device called a nebulizer to become vapor-shaped molecules.

This steam is then inhalation of the child, until the drug will directly enter the respiratory tract.

The advantage of this way, the drug dose is much smaller, until it can reduce the side effects of the drug.

Common inhaled medications are medications for loosening of airway, phlegm thinning, and NaCl as an airway moisturizer.

The duration of each inhalation is about 10 minutes. Advanced actions to help with the production of the handles, such as clapping or pat on the chest and back.

Can be on the right, left, front chest. The PAT is done continuously and rhythmically. Join the child position (postural drainage), such as the child is completed with the position of head, lower than the body, until the mucus can flow to the main respiratory branch and easier to up.

This will be beneficial because usually the child cannot spit, until the mucus that clogs the respiratory tract is difficult to secrete.

Special in infants or children under the age of 2 years, if necessary, do suction or suction of the slime with a special tool through the nose or mouth.

Usually this action is done in infants where the rock reflexes are not yet strong enough to remove mucus.

6. Hydro Physical Therapy or Aquatik Physical Therapy

Therapy with water is useful for children who are experiencing disorders, especially the disturbance of motion caused by spasticity, eg in the child CP (Cerebral Palsy).

While in children who are late, of course before being treated, they will be evaluated first, either from age, level of ability, or level of difficulty experienced.

To be able to walk, the child of course must go through various stages that begin with the neck, sit, crawl until it stands.

Usually the child will not be immediately taught walk when the previous stage has not been able to do.

In children who have difficulty moving because of spasticity/stiffness, when in water, generally he will be easier to move.

Therefore, the child's spasticity is expected to diminish, given that there is help in the form of water push that can flex the motion.

Although not all children with such disorders can be given hydrotherapy water, but this therapy can be used as an alternative.

7. Orthopedhic Physical Therapy and Rheumatoid Arthritis Physical Therapy

Actually, these orthopedic physical therapy is done to overcome bone and muscle disorders due to fractures, post fracture (cracks), arthritis joints, sprains, or sprains.

Generally intended for adult circles because the case is rarely occurring in children.

In infants, this orthopedic therapy will be used if it is subjected to a process of shortening the neck muscles (the neck is angled) due to swelling of the neck muscles that makes the muscle attracted to One direction.

Physical therapy is done in the form of movement exercises, massage, and stretching.
It can also be coupled with ultrasound (a higher frequency sound wave than human can hear) and warm-up to release adhesions/lumps in the neck.

Physical therapy can be applied for infants aged 2 weeks.

Physical Therapy rheumatoid arthritis is performed in children with swollen foot complaints or experiencing joint disorders. To relieve pain, cold therapy is administered when acutely and subsequently administered heat therapy with electrical stimulation therapy. This can be done in children aged 4-5 yearly, depending on which part of the series.
